The Tragic Loss of a Friend

I spent four years as an officer/paramedic for DPS on the elite Air
Rescue division. What we did was dangerous, exciting and very
rewarding. Because there were only 20 medics and 16 pilots in
the state that did what we did, we were very close nit. Saddly,
a good friend and amazing man, Bruce Harrolle, was killed while
rescuing two hikers in Sedona on Monday. I have had restless
nights since I found out. He had an amazing passion for helping
people, and an even bigger passion for his wife and kids. He was
so in love with that family. It is surreal to me that Bruce is gone.
He will be greatly missed and Air Rescue nor AZ DPS will ever be
the same, nor will I. In my profession, we see the unfortunate
side of tragedies often. It is never more poignant than when some
one you know is the victim. No one ever wakes up and says, "Well,
today is it. Today is the last day I will ever see my family." Yet,
it happens. That means that we never can let our guard down, we
need to always give our best to those that matter most. Bruce, I
have spent many hours thinking about you and your family- you
are a true american hero and died saving others. I believe in that
process, you have saved your self. Now it is our job to be worthy
of such a time that we can see you again. God speed brother, and
thanks for the legacy.

Randy
